Different builds of Pencils are made for popular operating systems. Please select the build on the right side and start installing Pencil.

Grease Pencil is a particular type of Blender object that allow you to draw in the 3D space. Can be use to make traditional 2D animation, cut-out animation, motion graphics or use it as storyboard tool among other things. Grease Pencil object has three main basic components: points, edit lines and strokes.

Pencil is an animation/drawing software for Mac OS X and Windows. It lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap and vector graphics. Pencil is free and open source. Pencil for Mac, free and safe download. Pencil latest version: Create animated digital comics.

Nightly development builds

If you would like to try every newest feature added by developers, you can try the nightly builds created automatically in the build server.
Please note that these are unstable builds that contains bleeding edge code. Use them at your own risk.

Firefox Extension

Pencil is built on top of Mozilla technologies and can be installed into your Firefox as an extension.

NOTE: the Firefox extension bases on an older version of Pencil which is no longer in active development.
